Interesting; that's one of the first moves I used on it; the damage Doom Gaze took suggested that it wasn't even weak to Holy.  Perhaps you and I are using different versions of the ROM.

EDIT:

I have further discovered that using this cheat and keeping it on outside of battle causes the game to display some weird stuff on the menu; I saw Rainbow with Twilight's palette, and she was level zero with zero health and zero mana; she had dirks equipped on her head and body, and she wore horseshoes for her shield.  Turning the code off during battle returned everything to normal with no perceptible aftereffects.

Yup, just like when you try to hack a Pokemon game. It all goes bonkers.

On the other hand, maybe they fixed the Doom Gaze glitch in the later versions.

I am intrigued by how much they've changed certain things in the game:

Spoiler: Storm Dragon (click to show/hide)

They increased the Storm Dragon's HP from 42,000 to 65,536.  They also increased his attack power from simply "demonic" to "Chuck Norris."  Also, he now gets crazy numbers of turns to compensate for ponies who equip the Thunder Shield and spec for evasion.  I can have that one pony survive for a good long time, but then I make no headway against his disgustingly large amount of HP.

I seem to remember him being harder than he was.  His magic barely hurt at all and he had shit for defenses.  I thought they were trying to make the WoR harder!  That's not harder!

I was all but completely surprised to find Lauren Faust in Thamaresa.  I knew she was in the game and replaced Gogo, but for that reason I expected to find her in the Zone Eater cave.  But it's all good for me 'cause now I have TWO ponies that can use Randoms, and one of them can actually be specced for magic!

• Pushover?  He's several times stronger now than he was in the original!  Are you really using the same version as I?  Unlike the original, I CANNOT beat him during my first run through that area!
• I just seem to remember him being more of a pain in the ass.  I don't recall him being dangerous, but still....

Maybe you just need to level up some more and get cool gear. I advise fighting Storm Dragon later in your dragon quest, preferably just before entering Discord's Tower.

Yeah, obviously I'll have to level up; the original ROM did not require that, though.  I was able to beat him on the merit of my skill alone.

Can i get some help plz, I got luna and done the raft then lost luna at the end of it, i picked to follow applebloom for a bit and i got the dyes, i look like a merchant and got past that little pony on the stairs so i can walk around caterlot but i cant get into the building i need to get in with the hidden tunnel.....

Hmm, have you tried stealing clothes from the cadet at the balcony near the entrance? You need it to get past the guy and access the path below.
