When I was either 16 or 17 my mother told me that I had a brother. That was the first and only time I had ever heard anything about him, which was only his first name: David.
When I came across a little game called Timesplitters: Future Perfect, the hero was only addressed by his last name: Cortez.
So then I thought, 'Hey...that sounds cool. I like that name. Unlike my stupid real name.' So that's how I came up with David Cortez.
...And before you ask, no. I am not giving you my real name.
